A research center has studied the number of Americans who identify themselves as Christians over the past seventeen years. In 2007 it was 78%. In 2014 it dropped to 71%. In the latest survey in 2023-24, that percentage declined to 62%. The positive finding from these surveys is the fact that between 2019 and 2024 the percentage claiming to be Christian has fluctuated between 60-64%. The indication from these surveys is that the decline from 2007 until now is showing signs of stability. Our heartfelt desire as followers of Jesus should be seeing a reversal of the decline in Christianity and a substantial growth in the number of those who claim Jesus Christ as their Savior.
