Occasionally, I find myself in a shopping mall, and I usually have a specific purpose for being there. Maps and store listings are helpful, and the first thing I want to find are the words: You are here! We cannot go where we want to go unless we know where we are. The same is to an extent true in our spiritual lives. Realistic spiritual goals are easily identified, but unless we know where we are, it is hard to determine how to reach them. Unless we know where we are in our relationship with God, growing in that relationship will be very hard. The process of growing begins when we are willing to ask God to help us clearly understand our relationship with Him.
